Magasin X in Uppsala is Sweden’s largest all-wood office building, setting a new benchmark for sustainable design and construction. The 13,000 m² project combines innovative timber architecture with cutting-edge energy solutions and has already been awarded the prestigious LEED Platinum certification.

On the north-facing façades, large triple-glass units combining COOL-LITE® XTREME 70/33 II and ECLAZ® LUMI provide wide views to the outside while allowing abundant natural light without unwanted heat. This near 100% glazed surface demonstrates that fully glazed façades are possible even in cold climates.

The south-facing façades are triple-glazed up to 60% to prevent overheating. On the Southeast side, a static solution with COOL-LITE^® XTREME 50/22 II and ECLAZ^® LUMI ensures optimal solar control, while the Southwest façade features a dynamic solution combining COOL-LITE^® XTREME 70/33 II with an integrated interior shading system. This high-performance glass blocks almost all infrared radiation while maximizing daylight.

The metallized coating on the outer side of the textile shading ensures full opacity for the yarn and reflects daylight energy back through the glass. At the same time, the Kvadrat screen enhances energy reflection and glare control, while its dark interior color preserves outside views. Recognized with multiple awards, Magasin X stands as a pioneering example of modern sustainable building practices.
