FIRST EPD SUPPLIER WORLDWIDE
ENCOURAGING SUSTAINABLE CONSTRUCTION
We provide our clients with Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for our glazing products. These documents, based on Life Cycle Analysis (LCA), offer a detailed account of the environmental impact of our flat glass throughout its life cycle, from raw material extraction to manufacturing and distribution (referred to as 'cradle-to-grave'). Our EPDs are created in compliance with international standards (EN 15804 and ISO 14025) and undergo third-party verification, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of the data presented.
By publishing EPDs, Saint-Gobain Glass supports its customers including architects, engineering firms and general contractors who are seeking to achieve certifications such as LEED, BREEAM, DGNB, or other building certifications for their projects.
Furthermore, Saint-Gobain Glass empowers customers to make informed decisions by analyzing EPD data, allowing them to select the most sustainable products. Our approach also extends to conducting Life Cycle Analysis at the construction level for all materials, including concrete, glass, and metal, as this technique is scientifically and globally accepted.
AN INNOVATION DRIVER
Saint-Gobain Glass's strategy focuses on enhancing knowledge and reducing the environmental impact of its glazing solutions throughout their entire life cycle.
By implementing Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and providing Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), we address various environmental impacts such as climate change, human health, ecosystems (biodiversity), and non-renewable resources. The LCA methodology offers a comprehensive understanding of the impacts of goods, enabling us to identify strengths and weaknesses quickly and guide our innovation roadmap.
OUR PUBLISHED EPDS PER GEOGRAPHICAL ZONE
In line with the Saint-Gobain Group's commitment to cover 100% of its sold products with an LCA or an EPD, Saint-Gobain Glass is actively working to publish these documents. Saint-Gobain Glass was the world's first glass producer to conduct LCAs in 2011 and now offers the most EPDs on the market, with more than 160 configurations covered for products manufactured in Egypt, Europe, India, and Mexico.
We have also recently published EPDs adapted for the US market to help our customers comply with the U.S. General Services Administration's Inflation Reduction Act Low Embodied Carbon Glass Requirements. Our EPDs can be downloaded from Environdec and Smart EPD.
