Forskaren, a 24,000 m² landmark in Stockholm’s Hagastaden district, is envisioned as a dynamic hub uniting research, industry, and academia. With its circular design, concentric organization, and recessed balconies, the building fosters collaboration while offering flexible offices, co-working areas, and laboratories. Its architectural concept and materiality are fully aligned with Sweden’s sustainability standards for modern construction.
The façade integrates two advanced solar control glazing solutions from Saint-Gobain:
- COOL-LITE® XTREME 70/33 II on floors 2 to 5
- COOL-LITE® XTREME 61/29 II on the top floors, where stronger solar control was required due to the absence of shading.
Both are installed on DIAMANT® extra-clear substrate, ensuring high energy performance with a uniform, neutral aesthetic. Inside, metallized shadings enhance thermal comfort and glare control, allowing natural daylight to flood interiors while reflecting back more than half of solar energy.
Forskaren embodies its sustainability ambitions with LEED Platinum, WELL v1 Gold, and Miljöbyggnad Gold certifications, and was honored as Stockholm Building of the Year 2025. Complementing the façade, solar panels cover half the roof, while the stepped design ensures natural shading and energy optimization. Durable Accoya® wood paneling further enhances longevity and environmental responsibility.
Together, these elements make Forskaren a symbol of avant-garde architecture, blending innovation, sustainability, and functionality to redefine the future of urban workplaces in Sweden.
