ORAÉ® production expands to Stolberg, Germany: Strengthening our low-carbon glass strategy!
Congratulations to Dr.-Ing. Markus Obdenbusch, Stephan Fieberg, and the entire Saint-Gobain Glass Deutschland GmbH team on the successful launch of ORAÉ® production at the Stolberg plant in Germany!
ORAÉ® - the world's first low carbon-glass - marks a major step forward in our commitment to sustainable construction. With a verified carbon footprint of only 6.64 kg CO₂ eq./m² (for a 4mm substrate, stages A-C), it delivers a 42% reduction compared to our standard European clear glass, with no compromise on technical or aesthetic performance.
At Saint-Gobain Glass, circularity is at the core of our operations. ORAÉ® is a clear embodiment of this vision, with 64% recycled content. It’s available in various thicknesses and can be combined with high-performance coatings — from low-emissivity to solar control — making it the ideal solution for building projects.
ORAÉ® is Cradle to Cradle Certified® Bronze under the latest v4 standard, meeting criteria across all five categories and achieving Platinum for product circularity thanks to its high recycled glass content, ORAÉ® meets the most demanding sustainability standards in the industry.
This success at Stolberg also paves the way for the production of OTAÉ® — our low-carbon glass solution for the automotive sector.
ORAÉ® now produced in the UK: A milestone in sustainable glass manufacturing
Congrats to the Saint-Gobain Glass UK team, which is now manufacturing ORAE®, the world’s first lower-carbon glass, at the Eggborough facility in Yorkshire!
