Laminated glass for safety and security building applications

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

STADIP® and STADIP® PROTECT are laminated safety glasses, preserving people and home safety. They are made of at least 2 sheets of glass sealed together by minimum one plastic interlayer (Polyvinyl Butyral or PVB interlayers).

BENEFITS & APPLICATIONS

Laminated glasses STADIP® and STADIP® PROTECT can reach variable safety and security levels, by adaptation of the number and/or thickness of each component.

If broken, the glass remains stuck to the plastic interlayer and is less likely to cause injury to people. The interlayer also makes penetration more difficult, reducing the risk of vandalism. The broken glass retains a residual strength in fully framed installations, while waiting for replacement.

  • STADIP® laminated glass is made of two sheets of glass from 2 to 12 mm  (potentially coated) and incorporates a single sheet of PVB with a nominal thickness of 0.38 mm, satisfying minimum safety requirement 2B2, according to EN12600 safety norm.
  • STADIP® PROTECT laminated glass is made of two sheets of glass from 2 to 12 mm (potentially coated) and incorporates between two to six PVB interlayers, with cumulated thickness ranging from 0.76 mm to 2.28 mm, guaranteeing (except for some rare cases) advanced safety requirement 1B1 according to EN12600 safety norm and P1A to P5A burglar resistance according to EN356 security norm.

STADIP® and STADIP® PROTECT can be applied in single, double, or triple glazed units.
They are suited for internal as well as external building use, in locations that need:

  • Protection against injury
  • Guarding and balustrading
  • Protection against vandalism and burglary
  • Protection against explosions
  • Protection against UV light

An acoustic protection function can be added, thanks to a special PVB interlayer. For more information, consult STADIP® SILENCE

Saint-Gobain Glass sets new standards in environmental responsibility and performance with its innovative lightweight laminated glasses: STADIP® PROTECT 33.2 PLUS and STADIP® PROTECT 22.2 PLUS.
These thinner special laminated glasses offer several advantages in comparison with 44.2 laminated glass:

  • Same protection against injury and vandalism 1B1/P2A.
  • The resulting lightweight glazing is easier to handle and install on production and construction sites.
  • Made of less glass material, they contribute to preserving natural resources and reducing carbon footprint of the window.
  • Lower weight is also an advantage for frame design and effective glazing thickness management to optimize thermal insulation.

With its 5mm thickness, STADIP® PROTECT 22.2 PLUS is also an alternative to standard 4mm monolithic glass, bringing additional safety and acoustic performances to the window, without any frame integration constraints.

In the same spirit, STADIP® PROTECT 22.4 can be a P4A sustainable alternative to 33.4 or 44.4 laminated glasses.

APPEARANCE

STADIP® and STADIP® PROTECT has the same appearance as awaited from standard laminated glass. Once transformed, PVB is perfectly transparent and invisible to the naked eye and does not alter the appearance of the product, especially when a coating is implemented.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION

RANGE

STADIP® and STADIP® PROTECT are available in standard jumbo size (PLF) comprising:

  • 2 sheets of glass from 2 to 12mm (potentially coated)
  • minimum one PVB interlayer (0,38mm) and up to 6 interlayers (2,28mm)

STADIP® and STADIP® PROTECT is proposed on all Saint-Gobain Glass substrates (PLANICLEAR®, DIAMANT®, ORAÉ® or some tinted or pattern glass) and can be associated with other glass products, offering variety of multi-functional glazing options, including:

  • Solar control glazing (e.g., COOL-LITE®)
  • Thermal insulation (e.g., PLANITHERM® or ECLAZ®)
  • Low maintenance glazing (e.g., BIOCLEAN®)
  • Obscured and/or design glass (e.g., MASTERGLASS® / DECORGLASS®)

An acoustic protection function can be added, thanks to a special PVB interlayer. For more information, consult STADIP® SILENCE

STADIP® and STADIP® PROTECT are available in cut-size, from Saint-Gobain Glassolutions or Vetrotech processing network, and can embrace added functionalities such as:

  • Annealed, heat-treated, or enameled glass.
  • Special interlayer (structural, colored, …)
  • Fire resistant glazing (e.g.  PYROSWISS® / CONTRAFLAM®
  • High-security solutions, against firearm attack, explosion, or hurricane (e.g., VETROGARD®, POLYGARD®)
  • Radio frequency and electromagnetic radiation, also known as RF shielding (e.g., STADIP® EMS).

For more information, consult VETROTECH.

PROCESSING

STADIP® and STADIP® PROTECT can be cut and processed in the same way as regular laminated glass. Please contact your local commercial team and technical support for our STADIP® processing guidelines.

STADIP® and STADIP® PROTECT can be recycled. Collection of substrates in what we call cullet is important for many reasons. Collection should respect rules to get clean cullet possible to reuse in new glass production. Please contact your local commercial team and technical support to have full details.
