Description
The “Perron” is currently the second tallest structure in Salzburg. The glass complex with proud, 7-meter-long insulating glass elements houses offices, apartments and a hotel under one roof. The facade glass was supplied by Saint-Gobain Glass.
Directly at Salzburg's main train station, just a ten-minute walk from the historic old town, a glass structure points to the sky: It is the “Perron”, a complex of offices, retail and gastronomy, city apartments and a design hotel. The tower measures 15 storeys, five storeys are parallel to the rails and the block with a gross floor area of around 20,000 square meters. The footprint of the two structures is just 70 by 11 meters. Constructed in reinforced concrete and encased on all sides with glass, the high-rise and the long building together form an urban and architecturally memorable L.
The arte hotel in the tower opened in June 2019 as the fifth hotel of the private Austrian IPP hotel group. 120 fully air-conditioned rooms and suites are spread over a total of 13 floors. There are also four boarding rooms, a wellness and fitness area and an underground car park for hotel guests. You can end the day comfortably in the rooftop bar on the top two floors. The planners also made the reception area attractive: at the level of the train tracks in the so-called Trainspotting Lounge, visitors and hotel guests can see the trains passing by.
Saint-Gobain CLIMAplusSECURIT partner ECKELT GLAS supplied around 12,000 square meters of high-performance glass for the outer skin of the building. In order to achieve a natural lighting effect for both the interior and the exterior, it was decided to use highly transparent solar control glass with a color-neutral character (triple solar control glass CLIMATOP COOL-LITE® SKN 176 II). This ensures sun protection, high light transmission as well as living comfort and heat protection. In addition, the glass keeps the cooling loads in the building low. Additionally manufactured safety glasses contribute to the fact that the guests feel safe in the rooms, especially since the separation of inside and outside is only guaranteed by the panes.
The building closure is formed by the two light steel restaurant levels. Seven-meter-high XL triple insulating glass elements provide a view of the old town and the surrounding area over two floors.
