Saint-Gobain is committed to offer sustainable products and solutions for its customers. To this end, Saint-Gobain continuously strengthens health and environmental performances of its products and delivers transparency documentation to prove the actual sustainability level of each product
First provider of EPD worldwide
To disclose the environmental impacts of its products in the most robust and transparent way, Saint-Gobain has made the choice of Environmental Product Declarations (EPD). EPD is a normative and verified document based on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), which provides the full picture of the environmental impacts of a product through its life cycle.
ENGAGED FOR SAFE MATERIALS
We strive to phase out from our products’ portfolio toxic substances and in particular substances classified carcinogenic, mutagenic or toxic for reproduction. Our glazing products do not emit any VOC as glass is an inert material. For painted glass, such as mirrors and lacquered glass, our glazing is A+ classified according to the French regulation on VOC which is the highest level.
Finally, Saint-Gobain advocates for the development of European guidelines for the disclosure and hazard assessment of substances contained in construction products.

towards circular economy
By definition, glass is fully and infinitely recyclable and our Saint-Gobain glazing is already made from 30% of recycled glass including 11% from processing sites*.
At Saint-Gobain, feasibility of recycling and its implementation are considered as key challenges and taken very seriously. To this end, Saint-Gobain is placing its glass expertise at the service of circular economy engaging into concrete pilot projects of renovation or deconstruction glazing take-back to increase collective knowledge and build new solutions for end-of-life recycling of glass.

Committed in fighting climate change
We aim at reducing by 20% our CO2 emissions and by 15% our energy consumption by 2025.
To this end, we conduct various programs such as:
- Introducing more cullet in our floats, which results into the reduction of carbon emissions from both combustion energy reduction and raw material transformation (about -300 kg CO2 per ton of cullet).
- Increasing the portion of green electricity in our energy mix (today representing 11% ). Several countries (including the UK, Spain and Norway) consume exclusively renewable electricity.
- Setting an internal price for carbon to boost ambitious choices regarding investments leading to CO2 emissions reduction. Since 2016, the company policy allows longer payback both for operations and R&D projects.
