BETTER ACOUSTICS
Building acoustics refer to sound insulation requirement in built structures where the transmission of noises inside is controlled and minimized. The quality of sound in a building doesn’t depend only on the exterior and interior noises but also on sound vibrations and equipment noises.
Sound level inside a building might have a significant impact on the health, well-being, and comfort of the building’s occupants. People can be happier, more productive and have fewer health problems in an environment where sound is well-balanced. Acoustic comfort ensures a suitable volume level by suppressing unwanted noise and improving the quality of sound. This can be translated by a range of solutions depending on the building type and activity.
An architectural acoustics approach is integrated into the building’s design to control how sound waves are reflected inside to maximize speech intelligibility, amplify sound in appropriate areas and reduce noise levels where it’s needed. This can be achieved by using materials designed to provide acoustic comfort.
Several factors must be considered, such as the shape of the space and the materials used in construction, especially their sound reflection and absorption properties. Mechanical systems including fans or motors can create noise that causes distractions and disturbances of communication between the occupants.
HOW DO WE ACT?
Sound insulation against external noise is an important aspect to guarantee comfort indoors; windows and glass facades can contribute to creating a calm atmosphere inside.
Our glass solutions made with the acoustic laminated glass STADIP SILENCE® provide improved airborne and impact sound insulation.
STADIP SILENCE® is a laminated safety glass that provides a high level of sound insulation thanks to an acoustic PVB film placed between the glass panes to limit noise penetration. It attenuates external noises from traffic and urban areas, as well as rain and hail on windows by up to 50 dB. It can also be used as single glazing for glass partitions in offices, meeting rooms and interpreting booths.
