COOL-LITE®

DESCRIPTION

COOL-LITE® are Saint-Gobain Glass Solar control glass; Assembled in insulating glazing units (IGU), they help reducing overheating within buildings while letting the daylight in. Offering homogeneous aesthetic for large facade, they help to reduce energy needs, hence operational carbon emissions.

The technology behind solar control and low emissivity is a thin transparent coating of metallic oxides, deposited on one or two glass panes of a double or triple glazing unit. Invisible thermal shield, this coating retains the heat inside the building and captures the sun heat to keep it outside.

BENEFITS & APPLICATION

Solar control coatings reduce overheating within buildings while letting the daylight in. Offering homogeneous aesthetic for large facade, they help to reduce energy needs, hence operational carbon emissions.

Solar control coatings are mainly characterized by:

IGU with COOL-LITE
  • Light transmission (LT): Percentage of visible light directly transmitted through the glass

  • Solar Factor (g-value or SHGC): Percentage of solar energy transmitted through the glass. It measures the ability of a glazing to reduce the heating of the room. The lower the solar factor is, the better it helps to improve the comfort inside of the building.

  • Selectivity (LSG): Ratio between the glass’ light transmission and solar factor. When the selectivity of the glass is higher than 2, it gives you twice as much visible light versus heat.
  • Reflection outside (LRe): Percentage of visible light directly reflected from the exterior glass surface.
  • Reflection inside (LRi): Percentage of visible light directly reflected from the interior glass surface.
  • Ug-value: Measure of the heat loss through the glass due to the difference of temperature between inside and outside. The lower the Ug value is, the better the insulating properties are expressed in W/m2. K.

COOL-LITE® selective solar control coatings are ideally suited for use in the commercial and premium building market, for large glazings and bay windows in façades (curtain wall, double skin façade...), for overhead glazing (skylights and conservatory roofs)

They can be applied in a wide applications, in new build or renovation, where high light transmission and high solar protection are required, such as offices, hospitals, schools, mixed-use building, sports centers, stores, restaurants, etc.

RANGE

Pyramide COOL-LITE

There are 4 main families of COOL-LITE®

•    COOL-LITE® XTREME – EXTREMELY SELECTIVE SOLAR CONTROL COATING
This is the range of triple silver solar control glass reaching outstanding selectivity superior to 2. This means that they provide the highest ratio of natural light going through and solar heat protection while providing extremely neutral aesthetics.
[COOL-LITE® XTREME]

•    COOL-LITE® SKN – HIGHLY SELECTIVE SOLAR CONTROL COATING
This is the range of double silver solar control glass reaching a selectivity up to 2,0. This means that they provide the perfect balance between a high solar protection and light transmission.
COOL-LITE® SKN]

•    COOL-LITE® K – SELECTIVE SOLAR CONTROL COATING
This is the range of single silver solar control glass, offering a wide range of solutions to suit different needs and intentions, in terms of design and aesthetics, with neutral to highly reflective product, but also in terms of insulation or processing options.
[COOL-LITE® K ]

•    COOL-LITE® ST – SOLAR CONTROL COATING OFFERING FULL FLEXIBILITY FOR PROCESSING

This range offers architects numerous architectural flexibility, thanks coatings with excellent stability and resistance, enabling tempering, laminating, enameling, bending and use in monolithic glass or in IGU.
