FOR GLASS SURFACE, THAT STAYS CLEANER LONGER

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

BIOCLEAN® is an easy-to-clean glass for the most exposed windows. Thanks to a special transparent coating embedded into their outer surface, the biggest or hardest-to-reach windows can be cleaned more easily, more quickly and less frequently. The glass surface stays clean longer, providing more light with less effort.

BENEFITS & APPLICATIONS

With BIOCLEAN®, keeping even the most exposed windows clean is no longer a problem.

Thanks to BIOCLEAN® technology, outer glazed surfaces which are exposed to rain can be cleaned twice less often. The cost of labor, cleaning products and used water quantity are then divided by two.
For windows which are less exposed to rain, the cleaning becomes easier and quicker, because a simple water jet, without cleaning products, is enough. As this coating prevents formation of streaks by water drops, the drying step can be skipped. Adapted cleaning protocol can then lead to save one third of the cleaning time.

The efficiency of BIOCLEAN® remains constant over time, the BIOCLEAN® windows maintaining their properties over their whole service life.

How does it work?

BIOCLEAN® (II) acts 100% naturally by exploiting the dual action of daylight and rainwater (or sprayed water).

sprayed water
  1. The UV-activated photo-catalysis disintegrates dirt such as streaks of rain, dust and organic atmospheric pollutants, present on the surface of the glass.
  2. Thanks to the hydrophilic effect, previously disintegrated dirt is eliminated by rainwater (or by sprayed water) which runs off the glass surface easily.

The coating functionality of the whole BIOCLEAN® (II) family has been certified by independent tests according to EN 1096-5 standard which qualifies self-cleaning performance of coatings on glass. The fulfilled criteria ensure that the glass not only performs well in terms of self-cleaning but also remains effective and durable in real-world conditions.

The most suitable applications are:

  • Pitched conservatory roofs (>10°): the cleaning is done naturally by combined action of light and rain
  • Hard-to-reach glass panes and railings: less frequent and faster cleaning
  • Exposed non-residential façades with windows (hotels, hospitals, schools, etc): less frequent and faster cleaning of the external pane
  • Glass balustrades and glazed balconies

APPEARANCE

BIOCLEAN® (II) has a very similar visual appearance to that of conventional glass, as the coating is transparent and neutral in color.

PROCESSING, MOUNTING AND MAINTENANCE

The manufacturing process and service life of BIOCLEAN®-incorporated glazing are similar to those of standard glazing. The usual precautions taken when processing glass products also apply: avoid contact between the coating and hard or sharp objects, protect the glazing when storing on construction sites, etc. It is recommended to separate the stored glass units using supple separator-tips with no glue.

When mounting the glazing, the following should be considered:

  • always mount and install the glass with the coating on the outer side;
  • use EPDM-style silicone-free extruded seals to fit the glass tightly into its frame;
  • clean the windows well, once mounted.

The BIOCLEAN® function is activated one week after being installed.

BIOCLEAN® requires a minimum amount of maintenance to keep the windows in their original appearance sustainably:

  • clean the coating by spraying on soft or demineralized water. For adamant stains, use hot sudsy water and a clean scraper or an ordinary window-cleaning product with a soft and clean cloth;
  • never use razor blades, Stanley knives, etc;
  • don’t use abrasive or rainproof cleaning products.

BIOCLEAN® coating by nature must not be brought into direct contact with silicone in any shape or form: spray, suction pads, gloves, etc.

For more details, report to mounting and maintenance instructions.
