SUSTAINABLE CONSTRUCTION

BY SAINT-GOBAIN GLASS

Our ambition

In everything we do, we are guided by our engaging purpose: Making the world a better home. Our mission is to facilitate the shift towards sustainable construction by offering glass solutions that prioritize both sustainability and performance. This means that we strive to deliver innovation, design and cost-efficiency through better buildings, reduced environmental impacts and improved indoor conditions for the health and well-being of occupants. We understand that sustainable construction is not just about the process but also how the building will be used. For this purpose, we provide our customers with innovative solutions that support their journey towards sustainability, and we advocate for better policies, standards, and practices within the construction market.

Our strategy

Better for the planet

When planning and designing a new building or renovating an existing one, it is important to establish a balance between the environmental impact and the benefits for the people who will use the space.

At Saint-Gobain, we believe that to protect the planet, it is essential to address carbon emissions and the use of non-renewable resources. We understand that reducing carbon emissions and dependence on non-renewable resources are crucial to ensuring a sustainable future for our planet.

Our goal is to apply our holistic vision of construction throughout a building’s cycle. We aim to promote sustainable building practices and reduce the environmental impact of construction, while also ensuring that the buildings we create are comfortable and enjoyable for their occupants.

Better for the people

Our goal is to minimize the environmental footprint of the building while maximizing the benefits for the occupants. Architects and engineers are putting more focus on creating healthier indoor environments to improve well-being.

One way to achieve this is by taking a holistic approach to health and well-being in buildings, considering not only the physical structure but also the materials used, the air quality, and the way the space is used.

It is essential to reduce the impact of construction products on human health by limiting hazards on construction or job sites to shield workers from occupational diseases and accidents. This can be attained by using materials that are known to be safe, by following safety protocols, and by ensuring that workers are trained to work with the materials they are using.

Better performance

Improving the performance of buildings is also about ensuring that the materials and solutions used are of the highest quality, providing a guarantee that the building will last for many years. Additionally, it is important that there are various options available in terms of looks, in order to adapt the construction to evolving design trends.

To improve the quality of buildings, we can use solutions that have been tested and proven to have guaranteed quality, choose long-lasting materials, incorporate dedicated solutions for safety and protection, select the right colours and finishes, and develop wide architectural possibilities by providing different shapes.
