Cities around the world account for over 70%¹ of energy consumption and related greenhouse gas emissions. Building operations alone account for about 34%² of energy consumption and 37%² of energy-related CO2 emissions in 2021. Various environmental impacts occur throughout a building's life cycle: from the extraction of raw materials to construction to the operating stage, and then demolition. Reducing energy use and achieving zero greenhouse gas emissions in the built environment is crucial.  

 

Saint-Gobain Glass is deeply committed to this transition as a glass manufacturer, and we are working closely with our customers to create more sustainable constructions. We are aligned with Saint-Gobain Group’s targets to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. We commit to reducing our direct and indirect CO2 emissions (scope 1&2) by 33% and our scope 3 emissions by 16% while lowering our energy consumption. Following our sustainability roadmap, the Group has successfully achieved -27% of CO2 emissions (scope 1&2) in 2021, compared to 2017.
